DID YOU KNOW THAT? 1

"Most of the coins have stars or dots around. Did you know why?"

Nowadays coins are made of nickel, copper or bronze. Those metals are not very expensive.
But years and years ago, they used to be made of precious metals such as gold and silver and people used to cut pieces from the edges.

So if you cut a piece in the edges it would be easier to find out if someone had taken a piece or not. So that, you could figure out the real value of that coin.
